Feelin' the Love

I know most people hate Valentine's Day, but I love it. It is just this fun little holiday with not huge expectations but you get to do nice things for the peole you love. This year I gave my hubby a Valentine note and treat everyday in February leading up to Valentine's Day. It was fun to leave him little surprises and he had fun teasing me about his Secret Admirer. I also sent a huge care package to our missionary with lots of Valentine goodies for him and the Elders in his district. We had heart shaped pizza for dinner and I gave my other kiddos a treat and a card. I also got spoiled with beautiful roses and chocolate covered strawberries, my favorite! I just love, love. What did you all do to celebrate?

Something that Scares You

It seems like life is all about facing fears.  A few days ago I faced a fear I have had since the day the ultrasound tech told me I was having a boy. My oldest son left to serve a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have hoped and prayed for this day since he was a newborn but I never imagined the gut wrenching pain that would be associated with knowing you won't see your child for 2 long years. It was the hardest thing I have done as a parent. All you mom's out there, hug those little boys of yours tight, because before you know it they will be grown men.
I guess the thing in fashion that scares me the most is dressing to young for my age. Do old mom's wear bright colors, skinny jeans and TOMS? I want to be in style but don't want to seem like I am dressing like a teenager. But it does make me feel young :)

OTI

Those cute ladies are at it again, OTI is one of my favorite features over at Freckles in April, and this time we get to play along! I have had this teal skirt for awhile and have not felt brave enough to wear it, but today is the day! I really love how it turned out and I didn't feel as wild in this skirt as I thought I would. Again, thanks Kayla for pushing me outside my fashion comfort zone!

I decided to add a cardi because it is so dang cold, I like the outfit better without it but sometimes you just have to be practical!

Outerwear

Today we are dressing up our coats and I wanted to dress up my favorite purple coat with a pin that I got from my Grandma. She collected all kinds of jewelry and when she died all the granddaughters got to select a few favorite pieces. I chose this pin. I never thought of wearing it on my coat, but I love the way it looks against the purple wool.

Mr. Green Jeans

Today we are linking up our bright colors and these pants certainly fit the bill! I fell in love with the look of these pants but I put off buying them because I was scared about pulling them off. When they went on sale and I had a coupon, I took the plunge! I actually really like them and didn't feel to crazy legs wearing them. I can't wait to try them out with other tops and sweaters. Sometimes you just have to take that fashion plunge!

Decade

When I was little I fell in love with the fashion of the 50's. I loved the poodle skirts, converse, rolled jeans, leather jackets, all of it! Whenever my kids have a decade day at school I always try to get them to dress up from the 50's. When Kayla over at Freckles in April posted our prompt for today I was so excited to get to have a decade day of my own. I tried to create an outfit that was true to the decade but not to costumey, I hope I succeeded!

This is my cool Fonzie pose.

Mix, mix, mix

Today is all about mixing it up! I am usually not a pattern mixer and I spent a good long time this morning trying to find the perfect thing, all I can say is thank goodness I have a thing for scarves! I actually really liked how this turned out, Thanks Kayla for pushing us outside our comfort zones:)

Channeling

When I first read this prompt, my first thought was that I wanted to channel Cori. If you have not read her blog or seen her amazing outfits, you are missing out. She is so beautiful and I love reading about her cute family. My second thought was Audrey Hepbern, she is so classic and beautiful. This is the outfit I came up with...

Check out all the link-up gals, they have seriously cute outfits...
